Evaluation/ Testing

I provide targeted psychological and neuropsychological evaluations for those concerned about difficulties learning and performing in school or the work place. From elementary students (grade 3 and up) struggling to develop academic skills to middle and high school students having difficulty with the increased demands for independent management of time, study skills, and more abstract learning and focus, my evaluations incorporate information from school staff, family members, and standardized testing of the student to help find answers.

I also conduct evaluations with adults who may have had learning difficulties as younger students and either need updated testing for accommodations (e.g., in college, for LSAT/GMAT testing, in the work environment), or may have long questioned the possibility they may have an underlying specific learning disability (e.g., in reading, math, or writing) or an attention deficit disorder (ADD or ADHD).

It is important to me that even younger students understand my results, so they can appreciate who they are as learners—especially their many strengths and competencies! I write my reports as a seasoned professional psychologist, but try to keep the clinical jargon to a minimum and avoid over-pathologizing differences that exist normally within all of us. I want examinees to understand why something may come more naturally for them and why other things may be more difficult, but to gain this knowledge without judgment or negative assumptions that can lower self-esteem if some things may be genuinely harder for them than for their peers. I incorporate my expertise in CBT even within the process of conducting evaluations, so that students (and families) feels supported in building a perspective on the findings. My experience working in schools for over 20 years affords me knowledge of how special education systems work, and I make my recommendations accordingly.

Rates will vary depending on the purpose and extent of the evaluation, whether it is a re-evaluation or an initial evaluation, and whether it it includes educational testing or not.  Typically, a psycholeduational or neuropsychological evaluation will range from $2,500 to $4,500.

All testing begins with an in depth initial intake appointment that may last 1-2 sessions. Testing itself is then completed in person anywhere from 3-6 hours, which can be completed in one long day (depending on the person’s age and tolerance) or broken up across 2 or even 3 days (for younger students). There is an extensive aspect of scoring, data gathering from other sources, and report writing. And then we conclude with a feedback session (that can be virtual or in person), which may extend into a second follow-up session.

While I do not accept insurance directly, I will provide a detailed paid invoice that outlines all services provided, necessarily billing codes, and diagnoses so that you can seek reimbursement through your insurance company’s out of network benefits (if you have them).

Please contact me for a no cost 15-minute consultation to discuss your request for testing services directly,

to get a sense of what this may entail and what I might initially recommend.
